In 1971, Carl and Velma Forsyth laced up a dream and built Car-Vel Skateland from the ground up—a place where laughter echoed off the walls, friendships were forged under disco lights, and families found joy on four wheels. It wasn’t just a roller rink; it was the heartbeat of the community, pulsing with music, movement, and memories.
Today, that legacy continues at Car-Vel Skateland in San Antonio, carried forward by their daughter Robin, son-in-law John, and granddaughter Carlett, who embody the same spirit of fun, family, and togetherness. Car-Vel remains a cherished destination where generations come to glide, groove, and grow—where kids become skaters, skaters become friends, and friends become family.

Carlett has been on skates since she could walk and has over 25 years of competitive skating experience. She even trained at the Olympic Training Center and learned under from her family a long line of highly recognized coaches
— including several U.S. Rollerskating Hall of Fame instructors & skaters.
Her background, passion, and teaching style make her one of the most trusted skating coaches around.
